AUGGIE RODOLA

SUNSET HARBOR MARINA | ESSEX, MD

Originally from South Jersey, Auggie grew up outdoors, often found fishing with friends or boating with his father. Although he once dreamed of a future in professional baseball, his path shifted when he discovered a passion for marine service. That calling led him to Pennco Tech's Marine Technician program, where he laid the groundwork for a lifelong career in the boating industry.

In 1998, he began working at Sunset Harbor Marina as a helper and quickly progressed to lead technician. Thanks to a strong work ethic and a commitment to ongoing training and certification, he steadily rose through the ranks. Today, Auggie serves as General Manager of Sunset Harbor Marina, a place he’s helped build into a respected and trusted part of the Maryland boating community.

BOATING EXPERIENCE

With more than two decades of hands-on marine experience, Auggie brings both technical expertise and deep personal passion to his role. He has worked on everything from small outboard boats to complex cruisers, diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues with skill and care. His background gives him a practical understanding of what boaters need and how to keep vessels performing at their best.

Years spent in the service department have also shaped his leadership style. Auggie knows how to support a team, communicate with customers clearly, and make smart decisions that keep operations running smoothly. His time on the Chesapeake Bay has not only built his technical knowledge but also fueled a lifelong love of the water.

LOCAL EXPERTISE

Now living in Towson, Maryland, with his wife and three kids, Auggie is deeply connected to the area. He knows the local waters, boating conditions, and seasonal patterns like a true Chesapeake Bay native. Whether navigating the riverways or preparing customers for an upcoming weather event, his insight into the region’s boating lifestyle helps him provide top-tier support.

With over 25 years of experience in Maryland’s marine industry, Auggie has strong relationships with local vendors and a clear understanding of the expectations boaters bring to Sunset Harbor Marina. That local knowledge plays a big role in how the marina operates and how customers are served.

At the core of Auggie’s leadership is a simple principle: every boater deserves to be treated with respect and care, regardless of the size or style of their boat. He believes that everyone on the water is there for the same reason: to enjoy time with friends, family, or nature. His goal is to make sure each visitor to the marina feels welcomed and supported.

His service-first mindset is rooted in honesty, integrity, and active listening. Having worked his way up from the shop floor, he understands the importance of truly hearing a customer’s concerns before offering a solution. Auggie encourages his team to approach every interaction with patience and attention to detail, ensuring customers can get back to enjoying their time on the water as quickly and smoothly as possible.
